Iran is Iraq all over again.
It’s Déjà vu.
After 911, President George Bush decided to take a decisive 1-2 punch against the fanatics in the Muslin world who want to destroy western civilization in the name of their God.
First he invaded Afghanistan because that’s where the 911 perpetrators hung their hats. Secondly, he invaded Iraq to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction and end Saddam Hussein’s brutal reign and support of terrorism.
At the time of the invasion, our intelligence indicated Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Even if Saddam didn’t have weapons of mass destruction, we felt that research was well underway. Everyone knew that Saddam, whether he had nuclear weapons or not, had made always his notorious name with brutality and acts of war and he would love nothing more than having the most powerful weapons available to further that reputation.
Since then, the mealy mouths in Washington (Pelosi and Company) have pooh-poohed this rationale for political gain, although, at the time, it made perfect sense. In fact, most of them supported the resolution to invade Iraq. What a bunch of treasonous hypocrites!!
Now we are confronting Iran for essentially the same reasons. In Iran, as in Iraq, we are faced with another nation of religious fanatics who are bent on destroying the western world. The difference is that the whole world knows that Iran is only a few years away from having a nuclear weapon. Anyone who buys the alibi that their nuclear research is for peaceful purposes isn’t seeing the whole picture. Of course, Pelosi and company will probably buy it. It seems that their goals are more closely allied to the enemy’s than to our own. If Saddam were still in power, you can rest assured he would be in the forefront of those fighting against us in the war on terror.
At the moment, Iran is Iraq revisited. Same wolf, different clothing.
So, my question is this…
Four years after the invasion of Iraq and the execution of Saddam and his henchmen, are we weaker or stronger in the War on Terror?
In my opinion, it’s a no-brainer.
We’ve been down this road before.
