I never cease to be amazed at people who says that Darwin's theory of evolution is a load of bunk. Invariably, these people have strong religious feelings and, if you even mention evolution, they feel that their precious spiritual shelter (their innate belief that they will never have to die) is being threatened. These same people trust science to save their lives through modern medicine and provide the latest gadgetry to make their existence more comfortable and luxurious. But when you tell these people that science also has discovered that human beings are direct descendants of those hairy critters you see at the zoo (especially chimps), they turn a deaf ear. The two concepts are mutually exclusive. There is an essential division in their thinking process. The right hand is scared to death of the left hand. It a form of schizophrenia which these people live with with no apparent side effects. I don't understand. I know, in my own life, I couldn't subject myself or my rational processes to such a dichotomy. All I have to say is: Go ahead! Make a monkey out of me!!
